Year of Simplicity
Posted in: Random
I know it's March, and a little late to talk about New Year's resolutions but lately I have been tested with mine. Back in January I decided that my resolution would be defined by one word. My word for 2008, that I try to apply to everything in my life - home, kids, and business is "simplicity." I love it, de-clutter and stop over consuming.
On my quest to de-clutter, while frantically cleaning out my house, I discovered that de-cluttering involved organizing. So of course I need to buy closet organizers and book shelves and so on. Of course I was perplexed, how can a quest for simplicity encourage more consumption? All I know is that there is an invention for everything and an answer to every problem. Even though this year I strive for simplicity in my life I realize how consumer demand really does drive ideas and ultimately the creation of product development. Next time you are a bit perturbed by those late night infomercials or relentless advertising you are subjected to you have to remind yourself "hey, I did this." In all reality our life's goals and challenges need resources and "stuff" to get you where you need to go. So I say, "cheers" and thank you to the endless products that will help me simplify my life.
You bet that I will spend this year de-cluttering my life with a little help from the BEST products and ideas that will get me there. In my efforts I turn to a magazine that I LOVE - Real Simple - the name says it all and I am thankful I have this to guide me as I strive to make this the year of simplicity.
Excuse me now as I give a shameless plug to a new product spawned from a great idea: PermaSpacers. Look out everyone it is coming and it will revolution the tile industry!
